I'm not a trained artist, but I do enjoy painting, especially with my kids. I like to create a painting, then send it somewhere else in the world to hang on a wall and remind the recipient that I'm here and they matter to me.
All paintings are oil on canvas unless otherwise noted.
Landscapes are fun to paint, and they open your eyes to the impact that light plays in our surroundings. When you start to paint landscapes, you realize color as you knew it doesn't do nature justice. You learn to see nature as it is rather than how you thought it was.
Cleanup is an important part of painting (and every other activity). Having the right equipment can make the activity more enjoyable, but you don't need a fancy palette and a free-standing easel to get started. I started with paints squirted onto a paper plate!
