This is the first painting I did that I did for someone else. I decided to paint this one for my mom. Adding the rock in the foreground was a test of my desire to possibly mess up the beautiful painting I'd done to that point; the mountains and trees were all nicely situated and adding a big blob of dark paint in the foreground with the intent of making it look like a "rock" was stressful, but it came out well enough.
